London Fashion Week Prophetik AW16 Show

The Prophetik AW16 show by Jeff Garner was part of London Fashion Week, and showcased the new Renaissance based collection which is a central theme of the brand. As I watched the show, I was able to see the Renaissance dominated aspects of the collection, due to clothes which accentuated the waist and had long flowing skirts which highlighted the elegant theme of the collection with a feminine touch.

I also noticed the importance of jewellery to the brand. Most dresses had been accessorised with some form of necklace, ranging from long, draping scarves to jewelled statement pieces, both of which were compatible and suited the specific outfit. This can be seen very well on the photos below; jewelled accessories are often used with the feminine, courtly dresses to enhance the elegance of the outfit, whilst scarves are paired on female outfits consisting of trousers and waistcoats, arguably to show a sense of female empowerment. Either way, accessories are crucial to the establishment of an outfit, which is so perfectly portrayed here!

I had the honour of watching the Prophetik AW16 show in London, and shot these photographs for 2bmeaccessories to illustrate the importance of jewellery in a brand. Photographer credit: @fayeisabella (instagram) & www.fayeisabella.co.uk

Winter Trend: Military Green

Whether your a pacifist or not- get geared for Fall’s newest trend; military greens. Big names like Fendi, Balmain and Acne have followed up on this army look, and considering the usual British weather it’s definitely a blessing that Hunter’s also produced some high-performance anoraks in camouflage colours. The tough boot has been in for some time, however it’s great to see entire outfits following the military-style doc marten and biker shoe. To soften this trend, accessorise with some feminine jewellery, or a statement belt.

The great thing about traditional army greens is that they pretty much go with everything- don’t miss out on the opportunity to mix up with crazy prints and colours, but still keep warm.

Winter Trend: Eclectic Prints

Who said bright colours were limited to the summer season?
Models have been spotted striding down the runway, prints a-blazing, regardless of minus temperatures outside. Stand out from the crowds of blacks and greys this season with a pop of print- and don’t be shy to to layer. More often than not this creates a uniquely eclectic look, which doubles in keeping you nice and snug.

If you generally shy away from bright colours you can pay homage to this trend with some equally loud jewellery instead. For a simpler look, wear only one graphic piece, and accent with a unique bangle or necklace.

Style Idol: Solange Knowles

To say that Solange Knowles’ personality is reflected in her style would be a serious understatement- the singer’s confidence and unique personality shines through her eclectic and bold clothing choices. Not many people can clash prints and polka-dots like this style-icon, but it seems like Solange can never go wrong. Knowles has been said to credit some of her interest and attraction to vintage and retro choices to her concentration on soul in her music, as well as nostalgia for the past mo-town era in general. But is it possible to translate her unique outfits into one’s own closet? Stopping by thrift-stores would be a good start, as a one-off piece can provide the perfect core to a quirky outfit. Keep an eye out for ethnic prints and vibrant colours in particular.

You can easily translate her eclectic style with some bright shoes, clutches or jewellery. Bold, chunky bangles and earrings are also good choices- and remember not to be shy when it comes to making a statement in accessories.
