FASHION SCOUT ONES TO WATCH
This
year during London Fashion Week Fashion Scout named Cassandra Verity Green, Min
Wu, Keiko Nishiyama and Youjia Jin as its SS15 ‘Ones To Watch.’ Opening the
first day of LFW the four designers showed their collections in a back-to-back
format.
Cassandra
Verity Green is a London based knitwear label starting as a Central Saint Martin’s
graduate. During the presentation of the
collection we saw a theme throughout of fun colours, risky materials and sharp
shapes. Cassandra Verity Green’s collection takes inspiration from personal
experiences, emotions and memories resulting in her fun, innocent yet risky
collection.
Keiko
Nishiyama, born in Japan, was the second designer amongst the Ones To Watch.
Using feminine yet modern cuts and draping the designer’s Japanese background
showed through her designers in the form of hand-drawn prints in an array of
soft lavish colours. Aladdin-style flat shoes in dusty whites and forest tones
completed the outfits as they took down the catwalk.
Chinese
designer Min Wu was third in line presenting a colourful and playful
collection. Graduating from London College of Fashion only last year, Min Wu has
been working endlessly to produce her collection to her best standard for her
aimed audience. Throughout the collection there was a sense of 90’s fashion
with flatform wedged sandals while the lengths of skirts and dresses were
flirty and playful – matching headgear completed each look.
Last we
had Youjia Jin, a Chinese born London based fashion designer. Some may say
Jin’s collection was a little more minimal compared to the other ‘Ones To
Watch’ designers – though Youjia Jin’s SS15 collection specified in detail with
hand-drawn prints on fabrics. The collection had a unisex theme with looks
border lining between masculine and feminine shapes.
