Floral
pieces are a wardrobe essential every summer, but this season brings in
unexpected combinations by clashing colours and prints, creating mismatched yet
coordinated looks. Feminine and romantic pieces make way for summer, working
full-blown tropical prints onto pastel backgrounds while more structured silhouettes
such as the biker jacket are combined with multi coloured floral prints in a
softer palette providing a contrast.
Sportswear styles are incorporated with
more tropical prints in quirky colours, updating the sportswear trend but also
keeping motifs and typography in bold black and white. Mirroring the feel of
the summer, tactile and dimensional fabrics define the season; embellishment is
a key detail to the trend, with many of the florals seen on the catwalk
combining embroidery or appliqué into the prints. The focus of this
trend remains with printed fabrics, whether bold and bright or muted and used
as a background, florals continue to be layered, mixed and fused with an array
of prints, including stripes, geometrics and checks.
